Sometime after midnight Minnesota time, Alec asked the question, “Where is the good stuff on flickr?” It is now 8:45am, and he has received 38 answers to his query, 39 if you count this one right here.
Flickr is full of great stuff, it’s just a matter of finding it. As a veteran Flickr user, I’ve found that the contacts and favorites of somebody decent are usually good places to start. It’s true that you need to have at least one as a jumping off point, but if you’ve gotten yourself this far, well then you’re pretty close.
In any event, I’ve come across some very talented people this way. All these kids below you may have heard of or seen before. Flickr introduced me to their work. There are many others.

I think there are many examples of good photography being created on flickr, but can see why the arty farty crowd get their knickers in a knot and attack it.
Your point about contacts is true, i have found many people who continually inspire me on a daily basis

I recently entered a photo contest for the ankor foto fest, and their requirement for submission was to post images on flickr. It was a hard decision to do so, but I reasoned that I could always remove them latter. Well I haven’t, and I am loading more images as well. Flickr is here, and it’s not a bad thing to have people looking at your work- is it? I never thought that I wanted to make exclusive images- I want to communicate with my work, to inspire, and educate.
